Two 30-spindle Lightning heads distinguish the Universal Instruments Genesis GC-60 from conventional inline-head placement machines. Each rotary head carries individually controlled spindles, collecting and placing components through a repeated sequence that concentrates on chip-placement output.
The dual-beam platform uses Universal’s VRM linear-motor positioning technology. On-the-head cameras provide component recognition, and the platform accommodates up to 136 inputs when configured with the specified 8 mm tape-feeding arrangement.
The original GC-60 brochure separates its maximum specified placement rate of 57,000 components per hour from an IPC9850 chip rate of 36,500. Those figures describe different evaluation conditions and should remain separate when comparing equipment.
For factories already operating Universal equipment, the included feeders, head condition and software revision are central to the purchase. We identify these items with the offered machine, including the installed camera configuration and board-handling capacity, rather than relying on the GC-60 name alone.
