With a specified wet print accuracy of ±20 μm at 6σ and Cpk ≥ 2.0, the MPM Momentum SMT Screen Printer combines precise stencil alignment with controlled solder paste deposition. The printer uses a vision system to identify PCB fiducials, correct alignment offsets and position the board relative to the stencil before printing.
Squeegee pressure and travel speed are programmable, allowing printing parameters to be adjusted for different solder paste formulations, stencil apertures and PCB layouts. Board support and controlled stencil separation also play an important role in maintaining consistent paste deposits, particularly around fine-pitch pads and densely populated PCB designs.

Vision Alignment and Solder Paste Printing
The Momentum printing cycle begins with PCB loading and positioning. Its vision system identifies fiducial marks on the PCB and stencil, then applies alignment corrections before the printing stroke.
During printing, solder paste is transferred through stencil apertures by the squeegee. Print speed, pressure and separation settings influence paste release, aperture filling and deposit consistency. These parameters are especially important for fine-pitch ICs, BGAs and small passive component pads, where variations in paste placement or volume can affect downstream assembly quality.
Stencil cleanliness and PCB support must also be considered when setting up the machine. Residual paste on the stencil underside can cause smearing or unintended deposits, while inadequate board support may affect stencil contact and paste transfer.
The Momentum family includes different machine generations and configurations. Printing area, conveyor arrangements, cleaning functions and installed options should therefore be matched to the specific machine rather than assumed to be identical across all Momentum models.
